Ryan, is a Canadian born actor, who fell into the film industry with the production of the micro budgeted film 'Desperate Souls' in the late summer of 2001. The film went on to international distribution through Lions Gate/AllianceAtlantis and although Barrett and the film's creators admit it's no masterpiece, the experience cemented Barrett's love of the art form and all its facets. He followed up in the Troma film, 'Kill', Archibald and Carrer's follow up to 'DS', and a role in the Lions Gate/Maple release 'Psycho Ward'. Barrett then secured the lead in Chad Archibald's first solo effort, 'Neverlost', the film twitchfilm.net called "one of the most tightly scripted and boldly designed Canadian genre films since Vincenzo Natali's CUBE". Barrett received critical commendation as well as a 2011 Toronto International Film and Video Award (TIFVA) for Best Actor in a Feature, for his emotional and pivotal performance in the film, which he physically transformed himself for by losing 45 lbs. The film garnered several awards, including a Viewer's Choice Award for Best Canadian Film at Fantasia Intl. Film Festival 2010. Ryan has played a variety of roles demonstrating his range as an actor, from an optimistic but vulnerable jock, in Kevin Lane's 'I Choose Chaos'; to a disconnected rebel, fighting zombies in Reese Eveneshen's 'Dead Genesis', to name a few.

A born cinephile, Barrett's love of film and dissecting their methods, paired with his ever long love of writing, amalgamated into screenwriting and producing. In summer of 2008 Barrett again teamed with Carrer, developing, writing and producing the indie horror success 'If A Tree Falls', which premiered summer 2010 at the Fantasia Intl. Film Festival in Montreal.

'Ryan Barrett plays Josh, our protagonist who is frankly pretty broken as the film begins. He goes on a truly emotional journey that is both heart wrenching and thought provoking. His performance is quite good, and a lot of the film's success hinges upon it.' - Joblo.com review of NEVERLOST

'The performances during the attacks, especially of writer Barrett as Brad, are quite strong and realistic.'  - DreadCentral.com review of IF A TREE FALLS

'Leading a solid cast, Ryan Barrett suggests a more charismatic Liev Schreiber' - Variety review of NEVERLOST
